Howl’s Moving Castle Poster \ May 19th, 2012

howlscastleposter

This week I decided to focus my attention on a single project. Monday night I watched Howl’s Moving Castle, a beautiful piece of storytelling and hand drawn animation. Anyway, after watching this movie I decided it was time to devote a whole week to this poster. Next week will be Princess Mononoke. As far as…MORE PLEASE!

Vitallion, entry two \ May 12th, 2012

Second entry in the Vitallion series. This guy is more of a buccaneer, crossing the seven seas: killing whales, eating snails, and sitting on buckets, telling tales.

Vitallion, an illustration series. \ May 8th, 2012

A while ago, I conceived a design studio called Vitallion; it somewhat fell through since MASS collective. Instead of trashing the name and branding, I re-configured it for an illustration series.

Climbing of the Colossus \ May 5th, 2012

Anybody who knows me, knows my favorite game is Shadow of the Colossus. I created a poster a while ago, that commemorated the re-release of the two games Shadow of the Colossus and Ico. The poster was quite a hit and got me a lot of fame and glory, which was awesome. It didn’t really,…MORE PLEASE!

Batman, an art nouveau poster. \ April 28th, 2012

I’ve always been a Marvel fan really, but there Batman is one character that has constantly intrigued me. He has a very complex story arc and history that revolves a Man that is not like the rest of his D.C. counterparts. Anyway, I wanted to do a poster based on him at the JOB Cigarettes…MORE PLEASE!

MEGAMAN, I can’t quit you! \ April 24th, 2012

I really have nothing to say. I love Megaman, there is nothing anybody can do about it. The end.

Ninja Gaiden, an old-school illustration \ April 21st, 2012

I love Ninja Gaiden, he’s like the ninja equivalent of Megaman for me. This is the first time I’ve really done anything with him, so I thought I would make an old-school homage poster to his Nintendo days before he became the black suited hard-ass that has become milked to no end.

Silverback, a design crest. \ April 19th, 2012

It’s a Silver-back gorilla, what more do you want? I find these guys ferocious and quite frankly intimidating. I mean, would you ever walk up to one of these guys and be like, “Hey, you look reasonable; why don’t we go grab a drink?” NO, you would run away from one of these bad boys…MORE PLEASE!

Red Panda, a design crest. \ April 19th, 2012

There is no getting around how much I just freaking love Red Pandas, they are just majestically cute creatures. Also, they are what inspired the Firefox mark, or so I believe. Anyway, this face was a bit more complicated because there is lot going in the face of Red Panda. I don’t believe I captured…MORE PLEASE!

Elk, a design crest. \ April 18th, 2012

Continuing with the animal, crest things; today’s theme is Elk and defense. I’m not sure why I paired the two, because elk would be best suited for a stealth, scout. I just like the idea of an armored elk on top of a castle wall with a bow and shield. But, this isn’t some furry…MORE PLEASE!

Wolf, a design crest. \ April 17th, 2012

Continuing this week with the 365 creative-thing-a-day thing, I decided this week is going to be about crest design. Mostly, animal crest design for medieval groups, or knights, or some theme there-in. Today’s is a wolf crest, it was kind of a random choice, but I felt it was a good animal to start with.…MORE PLEASE!

The White Stripes, a gig poster \ April 13th, 2012

The White Stripes have had, and always will have a special place in my heart. Their music never gets old to me, neither do the visuals behind the band. Jack White has basically mastered brand recognition and identity with every band he creates, especially The White Stripes. The use of three colors, simple sounds, and…MORE PLEASE!

Tennis, a gig poster \ April 12th, 2012

One band that I can constantly listen to is Tennis, they never fail me on a dreary day when all I want to do is escape. The wispy tunes and overall nostalgic feel give me a sense of wonderment that I can just get lost in. They have a really retro feel, and I wanted…MORE PLEASE!

Phantogram, a gig poster \ April 10th, 2012

Phantogram killed it with with their last album Nightlife, as such I wanted to do a poster to commemorate their first album. I decided to go kinda old-school with this one and focus mainly on typography. Phantogram has a very appealing visual identity behind their band and I wanted to honor that with some equally…MORE PLEASE!

Sleigh Bells, gig poster \ April 10th, 2012

Sleigh Bells has become one of my favorite bands of the past year. They have risen from some loud, noisy something, to a rather formidable contender on my favorites. Anyway, I wanted to make a poster for an upcoming gig, I chose the Detroit show because it seems like that would be their roots,…MORE PLEASE!

A gig poster series \ April 9th, 2012

Most of the time I’m less than impressed with the gig posters for a lot of my favorite bands. Recently, I found out St. Vincent was coming to town and I wanted to see what the gig poster was for the show. I’m not going to say its awful, but I don’t feel like it…MORE PLEASE!
