My long post

October 23rd, 2011

My Grandparents after marriage Last November I lost my only grandparent–my grandmother Henrietta Dacus Golden, she was beautiful and loving. My family has always been large and we supported each other always, but my grandmother was a sort of glue for my family. She kept my aunts and uncles together in rough times and helped them seek a better life under her care. To my family: she was my mother’s best friend, the giver of advice to my dad, a second mom to my brother, life lesson administer for my sister and my favorite person to receive gifts from. When I was younger, the most precious gift I was ever given was a Mighty Mouse flashlight from her, she often gave me flashlights (to this day I have none of them because I was always taking them apart). Anyway, everything I got from her was always well received and I often loved her conversation about how I had grown or changed; most notably she told me I looked like a young strapping Abraham Lincoln.

In all essence this is about my grandparents and how I chose to view them. For me, I never really got to know my grandfather as he died when I was four. I have a singular fond memory of him and my brother, which I hope never fades. The poster I created was a tribute to them and what they brought to the world, a Golden family. The poster is significant to me in the fact that I was really able to convey something unique and different from my usual style, which caused it, to turn into one of my favorites.

The inscription on the poster reads:
