Our inspiration started with the Serval, a beautiful African cat. It’s pelt directly influenced the visual language.
Quilt protocol is two parts, one: ledger tracking, and two: procedurally generated visuals. Each quilt piece is attached to a user which is displayed on the Servall site.
One of the challenges of branding a blockchain concept is creating a sense of communication through illustration without getting overly intricate in design. So a more simple and somewhat abstract approach was chosen for the hackathon, this helped ensure quick delivery and consistency in the branding.
We intended on building a small marketing site to flesh out the brand further, but time did not permit. 48 hours is a lot shorter than you think!
We did however get a small interactive demo out the door. The UX is built from Venmo to further push reality of the concept. A working prototype was coded and built for the app store.
Our team ended up getting 1st place out of 7 other teams. It was a jolly ole time and some sweet sweet bragging rights.
