As a native of The Hague, I’m often torn between Amsterdam and Rotterdam, but there’s something about Rotterdam’s vibe that keeps drawing me back.

Whenever people ask, I always recommend venturing beyond Amsterdam to discover cities like Rotterdam and The Hague — both are gems in their own right. This time, our stay was at The Usual Rotterdam, which I booked some time ago.

Though we ended up with a weekend of relentless rain (if only we could predict these things!), it didn’t dampen the experience entirely. The hotel lobby turned out to be a cozy refuge after braving a wet yet enjoyable walk down Witte de Withstraat, one of my favorite streets in Rotterdam, especially for vintage shopping.

Vintage Hunting on Witte de Withstraat

We started our hunt at Episode, a treasure trove where you’re almost guaranteed to find something unique. Next, we stopped by Dear Hunter, an absolute must for vintage lovers, and wrapped up at Marly Vintage. Each spot offers its own charm and a mix of unique pieces that make the search exciting.

  • Episode Witte de Withstraat 19a, 3012 BL Rotterdam

  • Dear Hunter Vintage Eendrachtsweg 55A, 3012 LE Rotterdam

  • Marly Vintage Nieuwe Binnenweg 55A, 3014 GJ Rotterdam

There are many more charming vintage stores in this area of Rotterdam, but unfortunately, the rain persisted, so we decided to head back to the hotel for a late lunch in the cozy hotel lobby.

  • Sweet Rebels Address: Meent 133, 3011 JH Rotterdam Features a broad assortment of vintage and designer items from the ’50s to the ’70s.

  • Cheap Fashion Address: Meent 25, 3011 JB Rotterdam A two-story store with affordable women’s and men’s vintage clothing.

  • Sluijter & Meijer Address: Witte de Withstraat 48A, 3012 BR Rotterdam A concept store combining gadgets, vintage clothing, home accessories, and art.

  • Roxy ’79 Vintage Address: Botersloot 45A, 3011 HE Rotterdam A cozy shop with a curated selection of vintage clothing and accessories.

  • Betje Krul Vintage Address: Zaagmolenkade 43, 3035 KA Rotterdam Offers a mix of trendy and classic vintage pieces.

Spending the afternoon in The Usual’s inviting lobby made for some much-needed downtime — and honestly, it wasn’t a bad way to spend a rainy day at all.
