I never dare to expect too much from a new year. The older you get, the more you realise that if a year flows smoothly you can frame it, cherish it and hold it close. Figuratively of course, not literally. Because let’s be honest, so much can go wrong in twelve little months.

Just after Christmas I wrote a piece about the highlights of my past year. There were beautiful moments, big and small, and of course there were moments I would rather forget. Not everything needs a spotlight. Some things are better left in the shadows, where they quietly turn into wisdom.
What I wish for myself, and for you, is a 2026 that feels a lot like my 2025: filled with love, mostly joyful moments, rest, health and personal growth. What I have learned by now, and yes, now that I am fifty, I am supposedly a little wiser (or at least I pretend to be, haha), is that growth does not always need to happen fast. Sometimes it moves softly. Sometimes it moves slowly. Sometimes the most important thing is not how quickly you grow, but simply that you keep growing at all.

For 2026 I hope to continue my growth but at a gentler pace than last year. Life already moves at a ridiculous speed. Slowing down, even just a little, feels like a luxury. I hope for moments of stillness, where I can look at everything I have, everything I get to do, and simply breathe it in.
I hope my body, my fifty year old body that will turn fifty one this summer, will carry me everywhere I want to go. I hope it stays healthy, and I hope the same for you. And if we fall ill, I hope we heal quickly and with softness.
