I AM NOT OLD – By Samantha Reynolds

I am not old, she said, I am rare.

I am the standing ovation at the end of the play.

I am the retrospective of my life as art.

I am the hours connected like dots into good sense.

I am the fullness of existing.

You think I am waiting to die but I am waiting to be found.

I am a treasure, I am a map, these wrinkles are imprints of my journey.

Ask me anything.

SAMANTHA REYNOLDS // BIO

In 2011, Samantha Reynolds had just had a baby, and she found that each day seemed to slosh mind-numbingly into the next. In a desperate hunt to find more joy in her new routine, she pledged to write a poem every day that year to train herself to slow down and savor the world around her. Almost right away, she started delighting in the smallest things.

Almost 10 years later, she still writes a poem every day as a way of tricking herself into being present in the little moments that would otherwise surely be missed. Her popular poetry blog, bentlily.com, was featured in Oprah Magazine and has sparked a movement of people worldwide to slow down and notice their lives. When not racking up reams of poetry, she runs ECHO, an award-winning storytelling agency specializing in personal memoirs and company histories.

In 2005, she was named one of Vancouver’s “Top 40 Under 40.” She lives with her husband, son, and daughter in Vancouver, Canada. Her poetry can be found on all social channels under her pen name
