May wasn’t exactly a month filled with grand adventures or endless outings, but rather a month of turning inward.

May wasn’t exactly a month filled with grand adventures or endless outings, but rather a month of turning inward. The first four months of this year flew by in a blur—inspiring and busy, packed with both travel and work. And then came May. It was one of those months where everything just seemed to land. A time to see which of the early-year plans were actually taking root, to tweak things where necessary, and to change direction if needed.

Honestly, it feels like it’s all going way too fast. How did we get here so freaking fast? It is already June.

These past few weeks, the weather has been absolutely beautiful, which means "my" season has officially begun. The season I was born in, the one where I feel my absolute best and truly come alive. Summer belongs to me. And every single summer, I promise myself to let the clock tick just a little bit slower. To enjoy the warmth, the nature, and simply being with myself. Yet, I’m already terrified of how quickly this summer will fly by, too.

With summer in sight, I made a promise to myself this year: to work out consistently before I find myself lying on a beach. Not for anyone else, but for me. For my own body, for my own peace of mind. After riding the rollercoaster of workout ups and downs, I’ve realized that I just feel so much better when I exercise regularly. More energy, more motivation, feeling stronger, and honestly, just more content with myself.

So, I have a goal: before the summer holidays start in mid-July, I am working out at least three times a week.

Am I losing any weight doing this? Hahahaha, absolutely not. I actually stopped posting scale pictures on Instagram because I keep hitting that 70kg mark. It’s not exactly inspiring to share scale pictures when not a single gram is coming off. Or wait... maybe it is? Because so many women struggle with weight gain during (peri)menopause, and no, it is definitely not easy to lose those extra kilos.

For me, I mostly blame the extra weight on my HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) pills. But you know what? I am absolutely not stopping them. I sleep way too well for that.

A Few Gentle Reminders for the Month Ahead

As we step into June and the summer season truly begins, here are a few things I’m keeping in mind (and maybe they will help you, too):

1. Let the Dust Settle

If the beginning of your year was chaotic, give yourself permission to let things land. You don't always have to be moving forward; sometimes, adjusting your course is exactly what you need.

2. Move for Your Mind, Not the Scale

Exercise because it makes you feel powerful, energized, and sane. The scale doesn't measure your strength or your peace of mind.

3. Protect Your Sleep

Whether it’s HRT, a cool bedroom, or a strict wind-down routine—do whatever it takes to protect your rest. A good night's sleep is worth its weight in gold (or in my case, a few extra kilos).

4. Slow Down the Clock

Summer is fleeting. Try to consciously pause. Drink your coffee outside, feel the sun on your face, and don't rush through the season trying to get to the next thing.

How are you feeling as we head into the summer? Are you holding on, or are you ready to let go?

Love, Dee
