From International Model to Photographer and Storyteller
I’m Dee Boomkens (50), the founder of AndBloom and a passionate advocate for women over 40. With more than 30 years of experience in the international fashion industry, my journey started at 16, when a spontaneous moment turned into a modeling career that spanned over a decade.
As an international model, I worked in fashion capitals such as Paris, Milan, and New York, and shot in extraordinary locations like French Polynesia. Along the way, I collaborated with world-renowned photographers for magazines including Elle, Cosmopolitan, Vogue Japan, Numero, and Harper’s Bazaar.
Achter de camera: een nieuw creatief pad
Na het afronden van een vierjarige fotografieopleiding, ben ik overgestapt van modellenwerk naar werken achter de camera. Tussen mijn 29e en 40e bouwde ik een carrière op als mode- en beautyfotograaf, waarbij ik samenwerkte met merken en publicaties over de hele wereld. Dit hoofdstuk stelde me in staat mijn creativiteit volledig te uiten en een unieke visuele stijl te ontwikkelen, met projecten die me van Tokio naar New York en terug naar Milaan brachten.

Motherhood and the Birth of AndBloom
At 40, I became a mother to my son Finn. After years of travel, I chose to take a baby sabbatical, spending the first years of his life at home with him. During this transformative time, AndBloom
was born.
What began as a personal exploration of life after 40 grew into an international platform and community, where I combine photography, writing, and storytelling to inspire women. Through portraits, interviews, and creative projects, I celebrate the individuality, beauty, and wisdom of women worldwide..
The AndBloom Mission
Today, AndBloom is more than a creative project—it is a movement dedicated to pro-aging and changing outdated narratives about women over 40. My mission is simple: to inspire women worldwide to age unapologetically and to prove that our dreams don’t have an expiration date.
Through Instagram, books, and live events, AndBloom continues to connect and empower women at every stage of life.
Author and Advocate
In 2021, I published my first book, The Art of Aging Unapologetically . In 2025—the year I turned 50—I released my second book, The Guide . Both books combine my photography, writing, and interviews with women across the globe , offering inspiration and reflection for anyone embracing life beyond 40.
